How we work
Taking the animal out is half the job.
If you hear scratching in the attic or see something going under the deck, it got in somewhere. Usually that is an open soffit, a gap where the roof meets an addition, an uncapped vent or a hole near the foundation.
So we look for the way in as well as the animal. Then we tell you what it takes to get it out, clean up after it and shut the opening so the next one cannot use it.
How a call usually goes
Tell us what you are hearing
Where the noise or damage is, what time of day you notice it, and whether you have seen the animal.
We come out and look
We check the spot you describe, then the roofline, vents, foundation and anywhere else an animal could be getting in.
We take it out and shut the hole
We remove the animal, show you the damage, and repair or seal the opening it was using.
Through the year
What we see each season.
Animals move in at different times of year, and the time of year changes how the job is done.
December to February
Winter
Raccoons look for mates and a warm den, and squirrels and mice that moved into attics in the fall stay put. A sudden smell can mean an animal died inside a wall.
March to May
Spring
Raccoons, squirrels and skunks have their young in attics, chimneys and under porches and decks. We check for young before any opening is closed.
June to August
Summer
Bats raise their young in attics, wasp nests grow, and groundhogs dig under sheds and decks. Snakes turn up in cool basements.
September to November
Fall
Squirrels, mice and rats look for a warm place for the winter and try every gap in the roof and the foundation. It is the best time to seal a house.

Before you call
Questions people ask before they call.
Do you only cover Media?
No. We cover Media and the towns around it, from Springfield, Havertown and Villanova out to Glen Mills and Chadds Ford. Call with the address and we will tell you on the phone.
There is something in my attic. Can you help?
Yes. Attic calls are usually raccoons, squirrels or bats. Do not board up the hole before we get there. If young are inside, sealing it traps them.
Do you fix the damage?
We repair and seal most of the openings animals use: soffits, vents, fascia, roof returns and gaps near the foundation. What it takes depends on the hole, so we price it once we have seen it.
Is this the county animal shelter?
No. Media Animal Control is a private company you pay. We do not run the shelter and we do not pick up stray dogs or cats.
How much does it cost?
The price of the first visit depends on your ZIP code. We tell you it on the phone before we come out, along with the price of any return visit to check a trap.
What animals do you take out?
Raccoons, squirrels, bats, groundhogs, skunks, opossums, foxes, snakes, rats and mice, birds in vents and chimneys, and wasp and hornet nests. We do not handle dogs, cats or deer.
