Bat Removal in Media, PA

Bats in the attic, walls, chimney and roof gaps.

What you are dealing with

What you can see is usually part of it.

Bats do not chew their way in. They use gaps that are already there, often no wider than a pencil, at the roof edge, around the chimney or behind trim.

You might hear rustling in a wall at dusk, see bats leaving the roof in the evening, or find small dark droppings on a windowsill or in the attic.

Any of these help us work out what is in there.

  • Bats flying out of the roof or chimney at dusk
  • Rustling or squeaking in a wall in the evening
  • Small dark droppings stuck to siding or windowsills
  • Stains around a small gap at the roof edge
  • A bat inside the living space

The scope

What we look at, and what the job usually involves.

What we inspect

  1. The roof edge, fascia and trim
  2. Around the chimney and flashing
  3. Attic vents and louvers
  4. Droppings and stains that show where they gather

What the work may include

  1. Finding every gap the bats use
  2. Fitting one-way exits over the main ones
  3. Sealing the other gaps
  4. Removing the one-way exits and closing those gaps last

What happens next

How the job runs.

  1. Watch where they leave

We find the gaps the bats use by checking the roofline and watching them leave at dusk when needed.

  2. Let them out one way

We fit one-way devices so the bats can fly out at night but cannot get back in.

  3. Seal the house

Once they are gone we close the gaps they used and the ones they could use next.

Price and timing

What changes the price.

In early summer, mother bats have young that cannot fly yet. We time the work so no young are sealed inside, and we explain the schedule when we look at the house.

  • How many gaps the bats are using
  • The height of the roof and chimney
  • The time of year
  • How much of the house needs sealing

Questions people ask

What to know about bat removal.

Can you just trap the bats?

No. Bats are let out with one-way exits, not trapped. It is the safe way and it keeps them out for good once the house is sealed.

Why does the time of year matter?

In early summer the young cannot fly. Sealing the house then would trap them inside, so we plan the work around that.

How small a gap can a bat use?

Very small, often about the width of a pencil. That is why we check the whole roofline, not just one spot.
